      <image:title>Implicit Bias Test</image:title>
      <image:caption>The project's goal was to seek a local Atlanta organization and investigate possible service opportunities that we could help improve and innovate. While exploring the Center for Civil and Human Rights, we saw the opportunity to enhance the amazing exhibitions by encouraging more empathy in visitors through connecting historical displays to modern issues. To achieve this goal, our team designed a digital version of the Implicit Bias Test that could be implemented as an exhibition in a museum setting. This short video below helps explain more about our project context, goals, and design.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>We used multiple Service Design tools throughout the semester, including customer journey and stakeholder mapping, future scenarios breakdown, and business model canvas. These tools were part of a larger process that moved from research to designing possible solutions.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The design process started with researching the location and learning about key 'pain and gain' points, where we created a visitor journey map to analyze potential opportunities for innovation. This ideation led us to multiple design solutions with varying goals, with us ultimately deciding to create a digital version of the Implicit Bias Test that could be implemented at the Center.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The current wayfinding method to help visitors explore Auburn's history is a series of plaques that are placed along the avenue. While this highlights key historical landmark buildings, they are stationary, and require visitors to remember all of the important locations as they walk along the street. Our alternate approach of finding your way around Auburn is comprised of three components: to notice the hidden history, learn about the stories and significance, and interact with the local community.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>
      <image:loc>https://static1.squarespace.com/static/57e6f783c534a54769932189/57e9f95137c58137fc4cc4ee/57ec6aeacd0f683aa71aca38/1476410285285/notice_learn_interact.jpg</image:loc>
      <image:title>Sweet History on Auburn_old</image:title>
      <image:caption>The first step in our work was to go to Auburn Avenue, where we were given a tour and researched the area on our own. After a few iterations on poster designs exploring connections to the highway, we noticed on one of our trips the sidewalk paving tiles were hexagons, and as you leave the main avenue the sidewalk returns to traditional concrete. This was the beginning of inspiration for our design, informing our design language to fit with the space as we moved forward with the project.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sweet History on Auburn_old</image:title>
      <image:caption>Keeping with this theme, we created posters for the ground and walls, color coding each unique location to assist in transparent interactions and illustrate the vibrancy of the community. Our final proposal was to paint the designs onto the ground and walls, keeping the information more permanent than posters, while also not damaging the structures. We also designed for a digital installation that visitors could interact with when they entered shops and museums, and would give the opportunity to further delve into histories rooted in place.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Sweet History on Auburn_old</image:title>

      <image:caption>On the second day, we formed groups (my group was called Team Rubber Ducky), with my group focusing on resource scarcity in the city, and how to get resources to those without. We started our project by going out for brief field research to a local homeless shelter to chat with workers and homeless people about what they most need, why people visit shelters, and issues that homeless individuals need to overcome.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>We also crafted personas, focusing on not diminishing people to only one element and identifying possible situations and personal barriers to access. <image:caption>Our team wanted to keep the large scale of the storyworld, while still offering multiple entry points for the user to explore storylines at their own pace. The design was to release new game updates synchronously with the television show, highlighting characters from that week's episode and allowing the player to learn more about them and related stories. We designed the opening game screen to have a few pinned locations related to locations from the most recent episode.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>For our prototype, we selected a scene from Season 2 Episode 5 where a semi-major character dies, and the viewer sees an extremely intense reaction from a character they have just met, and know little about. This chapter of our game puts the player into the shoes of a character we created (with inspiration from the books), able to interact with major and minor characters in the books and show.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>This example is ideal to illustrate one of our goals to improve the additive comprehension of the narrative by viewers; taking a confusing moment and transforming it into an enlightening one that deepens the viewers understanding of the show. My roles were as content strategist and to design and prototype the game. This involved many conversations and ideations on how frame our story within the larger narrative, and writing the dialogue for the script.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>The inspiration for this project came from the visualization shown below, called Out of Sight, Out of Mind created by Pitch Interactive. Their visualization is a poignant look at the number of casualties of the US drone policy, and served as a starting point for me to consider how to represent the impact of drone strikes if they were not out of sight.</image:caption>

      <image:title>War Drone</image:title>
      <image:caption>Once I knew key aspects of what I wanted to include in my project, I formed a low fidelity prototype, with limited interactions and a basic user interface.</image:caption>

      <image:title>War Drone</image:title>
      <image:caption>After receiving feedback from peers, I needed to better organize the interaction pattern, so I created a storyboard that laid out the screen by screen flow of the simulation. The storyboard helped to take advantage of the affordances of a simulation, in addition to revealing that my early version had a lack of user agency.</image:caption>

      <image:title>War Drone</image:title>
      <image:caption>After additional user testing, my final iteration of the simulation incorporated real world data tied into choices the user made, including targets, casualties, and locations. The UI was also updated to have more transparent and responsive interactions for the user, including removing the large green attack zone, and having casualty numbers better reflect user decisons.</image:caption>
